Bolsa Pastor Urchin Pods

Urchin pods, also known as Bolsa Pastor pods, are naturally dried seed pods from the Zeyheria montana tree, sustainably sourced from Brazil. They feature a highly textured, eye-catching exterior that may shed slightly, while the inner shell remains very sturdy.

Uses

• Aquariums: When properly prepared, urchin pods release a low level of tannins, encourage biofilm growth, and help create a natural environment for fish and shrimp. They can be used as spawning sites. Due to their buoyancy, extended soaking is required, or they can be weighed down with an aquarium-safe rock or weight.

• Bioactive Terrariums: Provides shelter and grazing material for isopods and springtails while enriching the substrate as they break down. Pods with larger openings may also serve as hides for small reptiles and amphibians such as dart frogs or small geckos.

• Decor & Crafts: Suitable as standalone décor pieces, bowl fillers, terrariums, wreaths, and mixed-media art projects.

  
  

Aquatic Preparation:Boil for at least 1 hour, then soak in fresh water (changing daily) until fully saturated and tannin levels meet your preference.
